CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

A Charlotte dad is singing the praise of police officers after he says they "made my son's day" Monday when they met at a north Charlotte park.

Skip Davie contacted WBTV after he says officers took time out of their day to let his son check out their bikes.

Davie and two-year-old Zander were in Nevin Park off Statesville Road Monday morning when they came across Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officers Rocky Lewis and David Gathings.

Officers Lewis and Gathings are part dual sport officers in CMPD's North Divison. Police officials say parks are part of their focus area, where they often patrol.

Davie says the officers were "very friendly" and allowed Zander to sit on their bikes. He says he rides a motorcyle, so Zander loves them.

"When he saw the two officers on their bikes, he was super excited," Davie said.

Officer Lewis let Zander sit on the bike while Davie took photos.
