Deputies: Man wanted after shooting man in chest during fight

LANCASTER, SC (WBTV) - A Lancaster man is being sought after deputies say an argument lead to a fight and a man was shot in the chest.

According to the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office, the incident happened Friday night outside of a home along the 900-block of 14th Street

Deputies say Markevius Grafton Harper, 23, was at the home when an argument began outside which led to a physical altercation between Harper, another man and their girlfriends. According to deputies, punches were thrown and Harper went to his car and got a handgun.

That's when deputies say Harper fired one shot into the man's chest and drove away in a silver or gray Chevrolet Cobalt with a paper tag.

The victim, a 21-year-old man, was transported to Springs Memorial Hospital and later airlifted to another medical facility for treatment. He is expected to recover.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Harper for attempted murder charges. Additional charges are expected once Harper is taken into custody.
