CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A man who was in the custody of police in Charlotte escaped for a short time while police say he was being treated by medical personnel at the hospital.
According to police, the man escaped from the hospital around 2:14 p.m. Monday afternoon. He left on foot and was caught a short distance away on South Kings Drive.
Crews on scene say a female officer gave chase and tackled the man. He was placed in the back of a patrol car and taken back to the hospital to finish medical treatment.
Police say the man was arrested on Saturday for cutting off his ankle monitor and transported to CMC that day for treatment.
