CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A man was arrested Thursday and charged with killing his elderly mother inside her Charlotte home more than two years ago.
According to police, Irwin Feldman is charged with killing his mother, 82-year-old Ina Feldman, in February 2014. Officers were responding to an assault with a deadly weapon call from Irwin, who reportedly told police he came home to check on his mother and found her dead inside her Charlotte townhouse on the 4900 block of Torrey Pines Court.
Investigators said she was beaten and strangled.
The son who found Feldman told 911 dispatchers, "It looks like she was robbed in her house. It looks like she was attacked, and there's stuff all over broken."
Feldman, who stood 5 feet, 1 inch and weighed 142 pounds, was wearing her nightgown when she was killed, according to the autopsy. She also had on yellow metal earrings with black stones, a matching necklace with a clear stone pendant and a bracelet.
Her son found her lying in bed, her face, hair and the bed covered in blood, and she had no pulse.
The autopsy showed she had injuries all over her body – cuts on her face and head, blows to her right eye and the back of her head, multiple bruises on her right arm, and a fractured left thumb.
Police believe Feldman could have been killed as many as 36 hours before her body was found.
Police said that physical evidence and interviews led them to naming Irwin Feldman as a suspect. WBTV was there as he was taken from police headquarters Thursday evening.
