Bounce Scholar of the Week: Iyliyya Jackson

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Each week during the school year, Project L.I.F.T. selects a student who is excelling not only inside the classroom, but outside as well. The student - along with their favorite teacher - is featured every Wednesday on WBTV News on Bounce at 8 p.m. The program operates within the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System.

This week's scholar is Iyliyya Jackson, a 12th grader at West Charlotte - Project Lift Academy.

Hobbies: Iyliyya loves doing makeup, hair, working out, and cooking

Special Recognition: CIAA High School Day Attendee, Literary Magazine Writer

Future plans: She would like to attend a community college to boost her GPA so that she's able to get in a good four year college. Iyliyya thinks she would like to study to become a biochemist.

More about Iyliyya:

I came to PLA because I needed more help with my academics skills. A friend told me about PLA because she went there.  She told me that it would be a good opportunity to look more into because the teachers and staff really helped her with her work by providing one on one help. So I did my research online and found out that they help scholar's not only graduate but increase their GPA and Academics skills. I knew  that's exactly what I needed to do to graduate so my I told my mom about Project Lift Academy and she immediately enrolled me.
I believe that since the classes are so much smaller, I get to focus more on my work and myself and get more work done. When I was in a  bigger environment it caused me not to really focus on my work due to other distractions. I would easily get off track during class. But now that I'm in a space where I can focus more and feel more comfortable asking for help, I have a chance to be more successful during class.
