CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

We are just five days away from Super Bowl 50 featuring the Carolina Panthers against the Denver Broncos and two of the biggest names in the game could also be the game's biggest factors.

Quarterbacks Cam Newton and Peyton Manning show a mix of the past, present and future at the quarterback position.

Both were number one overall picks out of the SEC. Peyton in 1998 from Tennessee; Cam in 2011 from Auburn.

The 39-year-old Manning has cemented himself as one of the best to ever play the game.

He's a Super Bowl Champion, a Super Bowl MVP, a five-time regular season MVP and the all-time leader in career passing yards and touchdowns.

But, Manning has struggled with injuries this season. Many experts and fans believe this could be his final game.

Twenty-six-year-old Cam Newton had his coming out party this season.

He led the league's highest scoring offense with nearly 4,500 total yards, 35 passing touchdowns and 10 more on the ground.

He's expected to be name the NFL's regular season MVP Saturday night ahead of the Super Bowl. Even Manning thinks Newton deserves the award recognition this year.

That’s what he said Monday as Super Bowl week kicked off with Media Night.

“He’s played awesome football,” Manning said of quarterback Newton. It’s not easy to lead a team to 17 wins in a season, he added.
