Cam and Luke missing

Hi everyone, this is Paul Cameron at my desk in the WBTV Newsroom.

30,000 at today’s Panthers Pride rally.  There weren’t that many people when Jerry Richardson brought his NFL franchise to town 21 years ago.  It was quite a sight.  The only thing missing?  Carolina’s two biggest stars Luke Kuechly and Cam Newton.

We now know the Panthers intend to leave for California on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.  Once in Santa Clara, the business trip begins.  Ron Rivera’s biggest job may be keeping the team’s focus on track and away from super distractions during the days leading to the biggest game of their lives.

We will be in the bay area next week to bring you in-depth coverage of the game you can only see on WBTV one week from Sunday.

Tonight we’re investigating after a Catawba County family says a neighbor’s pit bull dragged their dog out of its yard and attacked it.  The dog survived but the family called animal control who said there was nothing they could do.  Reporter Coleen Harry will have an explanation why not.

The price to run a 30 second commercial in this year’s Super Bowl?  $5 Million.  That’s up from $4.4 Million last year.  Enjoy those big name actors you’ll see during the telecast.

Please join Eric, Molly Grantham, Delano Little and me for WBTV News at 11:00!
