Man arrested following SWAT situation in Gastonia

GASTONIA, NC (WBTV) -

A man who SWAT officers in Gaston County were searching for Wednesday after he was reportedly seen driving drunk, dragging a person with his car and showing a gun to witnesses was arrested.

When officers arrived at the scene on Jeran Lane in Gastonia around 4 p.m., they said they saw a man break out the rear window of a car before raising a pistol and pointing toward a wooded area. The man then went between two residences and the officers lost site of him.

SWAT officials were then called in and a search was conducted for the man.

Around 6:30 p.m., the man, then identified as 44-year-old Danny Andrew Bull Jr, was found hiding in the same car he had damaged earlier, but refused to come out and a short standoff ensued.

Bull was eventually taken into custody, and an airsoft-type BB pistol was found in the car. Police said the BB gun was "extremely realistic looking and did not have the traditional orange end to the barrel."

Bull was charged with breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, assault and damage to property.

Investigators said there is no connection between Bull and the neighborhood where the incident happened.
