#TeamNOSugar 2016: Week 3 - Confront to Conquer

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - "You have to confront in order to conquer."

I read that somewhere recently and it hit me right in the gut.

I think back to 2010 (me, on the left) & how I just wasn't ready to confront how being an emotional eater, self-sabotage and not enough self-LOVE led to being not just overweight but obese.

I was miserable. I could barely walk up a flight of stairs without getting winded.

I felt like I was drowning and needed saving, but didn't think I had the strength to do anything about it.

All the while eating my feelings at every turn.

That all changed in 2013 when something just clicked and I was ready to live a different life.

People often asked, 'what changed?' It's hard to put into words. I knew that I was just ready - and willing - to do whatever it took to change. No one can you there - or get there FOR you. It starts with YOU.

I went the nuclear route, and hence #TeamNoSugar was born.

Because I needed to make a drastic change.

Not just cutting back - or pushing back (from the table) - but flat-out cut OUT.

And I was just crazy (motivated) enough to think I could do it.

First 30 days, then 60, then 90 and eventually 120 days non-stop that first year.

With every pound that I dropped, little pieces of my soul came back.

And every day since then that I work out, eat (mostly) clean and don't give in to old habits - I not only confront, I CONQUER.

Whether it's mastering real push-ups (and not the girly ones), being down several dress sizes or running 100 miles over 30 days last July, I AM a conqueror!

It's a battle but I'm SO here for it!

I may slip.

I may give in (hello wine & chocolate!) from time to time.

But I will never give UP.

Bottom line: you gotta confront to conquer.

So - what are you not confronting?
