A look inside the Carolina Panthers' PurrCussion drum line

You see them at every home game on the sidelines. They play a major part in getting the fans, and the Panthers, pumped up on game days. We're talking about PurrCussion, the Panthers drum line.

In fact, they are high on the list of what die hard fans are looking forward to on Sunday.

"Luke Kuechly's last interception, pick six,” said Jason, PurrCussion’s Tenor Captain on his favorite moment from last Sunday’s divisional game against the Seahawks. “We're the biggest fans of the Panthers and we get to experience it right there on the field.

Tyler is the Bass Drum Captain. He's been on the drumline for five years and says it's a dream come true.

"Remember the Super Bowl year, came and greeted the team as they came home. Just as a little boy that's so impactful in your life and then to grow up and actually be part of the entertainment crew for it is just unreal," Tyler said.

They put in ten hours a week at rehearsals, and even more during the playoffs.

PurrCussion members agree, they’re more than ready for the Panthers to take on the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC Championship game Sunday at the Bank of America Stadium.

“This is what we all hope to get to and now that it's finally here, we're exhausted a little bit," Tyler said. "But it's just amazing to be here and wouldn't have it any other way."

The 2016 PurrCussion DrumLine Auditions begin with Open Rehearsals on April 23 & 24 and conclude with Finals Night on May 10. Candidates from across the Carolinas are welcome to audition on any or all instruments, which include snare drums, bass drums, tenor drums and marching cymbals.

Candidates must be 21 years old by May 10th and pre-registration for auditions is required. For more information, click here.
