Winter weather forces cancellation of Panthers Pride Rally

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

The Panthers Pride Rally is canceled due to the potential for inclement weather, Charlotte Center City Partners announced Thursday morning.

The rally was scheduled to kick off at noon Friday at Romare Bearden Park.

“After consulting with our public safety partners, we believe this is the best decision for the safety of our players, fans and event staff,” said Adam Rhew, Director of Communications for Charlotte Center City Partners.

Charlotte Center City Partners were producing the rally in conjunction with the Carolina Panthers and Bank of America.

“We know our fans are excited to cheer on the Panthers this weekend, but the potential impacts of the winter weather that is forecast to affect Charlotte during the day on Friday presents safety concerns for the public,” Rhew said.

Earlier, the rally, along with the NFC Championship game, was declared an Extraordinary Event by City Manager Ron Carlee.
