For whom the vote tolls

Hi everyone, this is Paul Cameron at my desk in the WBTV Newsroom.

For whom the vote tolls tonight—Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization voted 14-9 to re-affirm the controversial I-77 toll lane project.  Many angry voices before the vote tried to dissuade what appeared to be a done deal.  Now, it may be up to the General Assembly to draft legislation when they reconvene in April to kill the 50-year contract.

Ice is a major concern in the Charlotte area tomorrow night and into Friday morning.  There may be some snow accumulation here as well.  But nothing like the high country-- 19-24” is the forecast there.  And Washington, DC could get an historic record snowfall before it’s over.  All of the northeast is in store for a weekend of the big dig out.

Another dip in the price of crude oil had stocks plunging on Wall Street.  The Dow Jones was down more than 550 at one point, but rallied back to fall nearly 250 points.  Bank of America lost 55 cents per share and crude oil is now under 27-dollars a barrel.
