Charlotte gears up to host first ever NFC Championship game - DETAILS on WBTV

Good morning! Are you still doing a victory dance this morning? It's Christine Sperow in the WBTV newsroom. Like you, we're all still talking about Carolina's win over Seattle! It's one of the many stories to watch for when you tune in to WBTV News This Morning from 4:30-9:00 a.m. on WBTV and Bounce TV.

#Panthers: For the first time in team history the Carolina Panthers will host the NFC Championship game! What a roller coaster of emotions we all went through as the Panthers got the win!!

We're talking to the fans who witnessed euphoria in the first half, to major stress in the second half. We also have post-game sound from the players including Cam Newton and Jonathan Stewart.

As we prepare for the Arizona Cardinals now, WBTV's Mark Davenport will have details on what you need to know before Sunday's game. Remember we haven't hosted a championship before. Plus, Mark found out how fast tickets to the general public sold out last night.

NEW OVERNIGHT: This morning a woman had to be rescued from a house fire in west Charlotte. Fire officials responded to the fire on Royston Road in west Charlotte just after 2 a.m. The woman escaped but her small dog died in the fire.

She tells us what she had in her home that, she believes, saved her life.

A man is facing charges for striking and killing a pedestrian in Charlotte's South End late Sunday afternoon.

Gregory Alan Wheeling, 30, was driving an Audi on South Boulevard near Remount Road when 28-year-old Kelli Sue Putman, who walking along the sidewalk, stepped in front of the car and was hit, police say. Click HERE for the story.

Today people will be remembering the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. On this MLK holiday, Charlotte puts a big event reflecting on Dr. King's dream. Charlotte MLK breakfast starts in just a few hours. The keynote speaker is former NC senator Malcolm Graham. You remember, Graham's sister was among the nine people killed at Emanuel AME Church back in June.

Some of you may still have been celebrating the Panthers win without realizing there was an important political debate last night. The Democrats faced off in Charleston, S.C. We have more on the big topics that were raised, plus hear the tense moments as candidates went back and forth.

WEATHER: Cold morning on this Monday. A lot like the weekend, but the sun coming out made it nice! We're talking about changes in the air. Plus, Meteorologist Al Conklin is talking about the snowfall many of you saw falling in your neighborhood Sunday monring.

We're live on air now. Tune in!
