Molly's Kids: Hickory's miracle baby turns 1

Been waiting for a picture from Gabriel’s birthday celebration yesterday in Hickory… Just received! This is such a good update…

Gabriel was born with a rare genetic disorder. His mom April was told he wouldn’t live past three days. Yesterday he turned one.

Much has happened since writing about Gabriel in October. READ POST HERE.

One of you read that post and got him hooked up with the Shriners Hospitals for Children in South Carolina. He’s now seeing an orthopedist there, for free.

Which is awesome for April, who is a single mom doing all she can on limited funds.

Thank you to all of you who read about our #MollysKids and then want to reach out and help.

Separately, last week Gabriel saw a plastic surgeon to figure out his missing jaw bones, eyebrow bones and some rearranging of his chin, among other things. He still has problems with his kidneys, but those problems haven’t gotten worse.

It’s the next part April says she can’t believe.

She says doctors told her his heart healed on its own.

“It doesn’t make sense, but that’s what they said,” she told me. “It’s unbelievable. My little boy turned one and has a healthy heart.”

April, a single mom, is still looking to find a home for her and Gabriel but says she couldn’t feel more upbeat and blessed. She is appreciative of all the good thoughts.

Happy Birthday, Gabriel! We love the good update!
