Explicit conversation, pornography discovered between man, juvenile on Facebook

CLEVELAND, NC (WBTV) -

A 35-year-old man is being held on more than $500,000 bond after he was charged with multiple accounts of sex charges against a minor and drug charges.

According to the Cleveland County Sheriff, the charges were a result of an investigation that began after a person told deputies they found a sexually explicit conversation on Facebook between a juvenile and 35-year-old Joshua Jai Sellers.

The conversation was discovered when the juvenile used a tablet at another person's home. The person also found pornographic images had been exchanged between the juvenile and Sellers via Facebook.

According to investigators, Sellers had actually picked up the juvenile and took them to a store and had inappropriate contact with the juvenile.

He's being held in the Cleveland County jail on a $502,000 secured bond.

The Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office says "it is important for parents to strictly monitor their children’s social media accounts and who they are talking to. Social Media is the number one tool used now by sexual predators."

Sellars has been charged with attempted statutory sexual offence with a minor, indecent liberties with a minor, 1st degree sexual exploitation of a minor, 1st degree kidnapping, contributing to delinquency of a minor and possession of methamphetamine.
