Crime Stoppers: Undergarment thieves at assisted living center

Group of thieves hit assisted living center

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Five men snuck into an assisted living center, kicked down a woman's door, roughed her up and stole a bag of her undergarments.

It didn't take much time, but police want to catch them to give them some time behind bars.

On the night of December 1, one of the men followed a resident into the locked lobby of the Pinecrest Manor on Marvin Road. Surveillance video shows four of his friends arrive shortly thereafter.

After letting them in, he walks away - but they went straight down a hallway to a particular room.

"Once inside they go to this victim's door and knock on the door," said CMPD Detective Tori Roddey.

The elderly woman inside wouldn't open her door, so the thugs kicked it until it broke open.

"She obviously was terrified and tried to get away, but they grabbed her as she was going out the door, pushed her back inside and put a gun to her head," Detective Roddey said.

They roughed her up and demanded she give them what they'd come for.

"They're eyeing around the place and see a black bag and ask her, 'where is it?' and this lady is saying, 'what are you talking about?'"

They were talking about something that wasn't there. They had made a huge mistake. What they got was a black bag with the woman's undergarments.

"What they thought might have been some cash or drugs, simply was bras and panties," Detective Roddey said.

One of the hoodlums was seen on camera wearing an "Xmas Is Canceled" shirt. He has since been arrested.

"We're trying to get him talk," Detective Roddey said. "Obviously he won't say anything, but we're going to get the public to tell us who these other three guys are, because somebody would know who they are."

Detective Roddey added, "We've got to get these guys off the streets."
