Cold and getting colder

Hi everyone, this is Paul Cameron at my desk in the WBTV Newsroom.

It’s cold and getting colder.  Eric Thomas is telling us we may be in a cold streak for much of January.  Happy New Year.

Those opposing the I-77 toll lanes got a bad indicator when Charlotte’ City Council Transportation Committee voted 3-2 in favor of the controversial project.  The full council is scheduled to vote next two weeks with that recommendation headed to the Regional Transportation Committee, then on to the state DOT for a final verdict.

A little girl was the only passenger on a school bus that collided head-on with an SUV.  Two people were hospitalized, but authorities report the girl wasn’t injured.  Tonight, the girl’s grandmother disagrees.  And she says not enough is being done to protect students on their bus rides home.

Tonight, the former Charleston police officer who was seen on phone video shooting Walter Scott in the back as he ran away, is out of jail.  Deputies say Michael Slager posted his half million dollar bond.

Several members of the playoff bound Carolina Panthers were at the Comedy Club tonight, helping support the Thomas Davis Foundation.  Davis was just voted to his first-ever Pro-Bowl appearance.

Please join Eric, Molly Grantham, Delano Little and me for WBTV News at 11:00!
