Colder, rain-free weather kicks off 2016 - Swipe for details

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

2016 will start off with a good deal of cloudiness, but little in the way of rain. It will also be colder - after morning temps in the upper 40s, highs will only be in the 50s this afternoon, which is the coldest we've been since before Christmas.

The colder air sticks around for the first week of the New Year, which many of you probably will welcome anyway! We'll see highs in the 50s and overnight lows in 20s and 30s both Saturday and Sunday. However, there will be more sun returning for the weekend.

Next week is even colder still with highs in the 40s and lows tumbling into the low 20s! One group I know is excited... the skiers! Now if only we could get some snow....

Enjoy this drier but colder pattern and have a great start to the year!
