Getting drenched

Hi everyone, this is Paul Cameron at my desk in the WBTV Newsroom.

Flooding is the story tonight.  Lakes, creeks, streams and yards are full of rainwater after our all-day deluge moved through.  One area in Kings Mountain had a road wash away and collapse, trapping 7 families in their homes.  We have a reporter on the scene.

A similar story in Gastonia where a mobile home park found itself under water.  Firefighters waded through the flood to walk residents to higher ground.

While fans of the Belk Bowl game got drenched tonight, it appears tomorrow’s New Year’s Eve celebration in uptown will be dry and accommodating for the thousands expected.

Sexual criminal charges filed against comedian Bill Cosby in Philadelphia today.  An accuser says he gave her pills then raped her 12 years ago.  He has always denied the many accusations from other women.

We wondered what was going on when Cam Newton cradled the football after scoring a touchdown.  Now we know.  Cam is a new daddy.  His girlfriend give birth to a child born on Christmas.  Can’t wait to see pictures.
