According to crews on scene, a portion of Crowder’s Creek nearby had flooded over its  banks into the park.

Gastonia firefighters got into the water and escorted 6-8 residents of the park to safety.

Nearby Archie Whitesides Road was already shut down from an earlier situation where a tree had fallen and knocked down power lines and a pole.

Gas and electricity were cut off to the park as a precaution. The residents were given assistance by the Red Cross.

No one was injured.
