Heavy rain, wrecks and road closures: I-77 north of Exit 55 shut down in Chester Co., Part of US-74 in Gaston Co. closed

It has rained cats and dogs all night long!  Make sure you grab the right gear as you head out the door this morning. Before you do that, though, watch meteorologist Lyndsay Tapases's forecast. She will let you know when the rain will end.

There are two accidents that have caused road closures this morning: Interstate 77 in South Carolina is shut down, just two miles north of Exit 55. An accident also closed both US-74 in Gastonia. We are working to gather more information about the wrecks.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say the rainy weather was also a factor in a wreck in northeast Charlotte. A car overturned just before 2:00, Tuesday morning, at North Davidson Street and East 37th Street. The driver is OK and was not taken to the hospital.

We have new information about a shooting over the weekend and the condition it left a 16-year-old in for the rest of the teen's life.

Do you work the night shift or do you know someone who does?  New research points to a significant danger on the way to the job.

Finish your holiday shopping yet?  We'll show you how local police are trying to protect you from the bad guys who are after your gifts.

Today is the day you can buy Panthers playoff tickets.  They go on sale at 6 p.m. but before you buy you'll want to hear some advice from the experts this morning so you don't get scammed.

Plus you'll hear from the adorable little guy who scored one of those Cam Newton touchdown balls!

It is a very busy morning so I hope you'll join us to get your day started right.  Christine Sperow and Lyndsay will start things off at 4:30 a.m..  Chris Larson, Mark Davenport, Ashton Pellom and I will join them at 5 a.m.  See you then!
