Re-vote for toll lanes

Hi everyone, this is Paul Cameron at my desk in the WBTV Newsroom.

Governor McCrory is asking the Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization to take a re-vote on the controversial I-77 toll lanes next month.  The governor warns if the contract is canceled, the cost of breaking the deal could fall on the backs of local governments and taxpayers.  But “Widen 77”—the group that opposes toll lanes argues the state signed the contract and only the state would be responsible for breaking the deal and paying for the termination.

For the second time in three weeks, shots fired at an apartment just off campus at UNC Charlotte.   No one was hit, but the bullet holes in the wall have frightened many apartment dwellers.  Our reporter Steve Crump is looking into what security improvements are planned to give all residents some peace of mind.

The popular gift on the Christmas wish list is getting pulled by online retailer Amazon. Hoverboards will no longer be for sale there.  This comes after many reports of the batteries catching fire.
