CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Four people have been charged in a string of car break-ins in the region, including crimes in Charlotte, Matthews, Pineville, and Indian Trail. Police say one of the suspects is also implicated in a recent armed robbery at a drugstore.

Charlotte Mecklenburg Police say detectives in Matthews and Indian Trail alerted them to a vehicle theft on Nov. 23 involving a white Dodge Journey. Investigators noticed a similarity to other cases in Charlotte and were able to identify 27-year-old Darryl Mills as a suspect in several cases.

On Dec. 12, a similar break-in took place involving a pickup truck parked at Skyzone in Pineville. Within minutes of that incident, police were able to arrest four suspects. In addition to Mills, police apprehended Michael Mahol, 26, Brandon Pettus, 29, and Shanika Boyd, 26.

A vehicle search turned up stolen weapons and evidence related to other robberies, according to police. Mills was also charged in the Dec. 9 armed robbery of Premier Pharmacy and Wellness Center on Monroe Road.

Mills is charged with breaking into several vehicles, robbery with a dangerous weapon, kidnapping, and various weapons charges. The other three also face charges of breaking and entering and weapons violations.
