Molly's Kids: Long holiday weekend for little Jaxon Queen

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Unfortunately, little Jaxon Queen's surgery didn't go well late last week. This is the preemie whose mom creatively sent his story in spurts. Way powerful. (Read that post here.)

Lauren Queen was trying to convey the up-and-down lifestyles for families of sick children. Their soap opera continued when, just a few hours after posting about him and his tongue-reduction surgery, the procedure changed last-minute to a trach surgery.

More details on his FB page >> www.facebook.com/jaxonjourney

Lauren tells me her son is having trouble breathing and, horribly, he coded twice this past weekend.

"There's nothing more terrifying as a parent then having to stand back and watch as they 'bag' your son," she said. "They were trying their hardest to get him breathing again."

Yes. It sounds nightmarish.

"But through it all, even between codes, he's still smiling," Lauren said. "He's amazing. He is truly remarkable. His little attitude is keeping us all afloat."

Lauren wanted all those who reached out to her last week after the original post (again, you can read that above) to have the update from the past few days. She appreciated all the warm thoughts.

Hang in there, Lauren. And family. And, of course, Jaxon.

You can actually see Jaxon smiling a little in this picture.

After a Mint Hill family is now without a home after a massive fire Friday night, neighbors said the damage to the home could have been minimized, if one of their long-time concerns had been addressed. Neighbors told WBTV there are no fire hydrants in their neighborhood. The fire happened around 8 Friday night, at a home on Saffir Court. According to fire officials at the scene, the closest fire hydrant was almost a mile away. "We watched them set up the portab...
