Two things coming

Hi everyone, this is Paul Cameron at my desk in the WBTV Newsroom.

Two things coming this weekend—cold and more security.  Weather at the Panthers game Sunday won’t get out of the 40’s.  Getting into the Panthers game may be much more intemperate as there will be added police patrols and beefed-up security checks according to the team.  Ladies, remember, if you take a purse that doesn’t fit in the 12”x12”x6” clear bags, you won’t get in.

At a Department of Transportation public meeting on placing noise barriers along I-77 in Cornelius tonight, an anti-tolls protest broke out.  The groundswell against building a toll lane seems to be getting more vocal.

For the past month, we’ve shown you surveillance pictures of an older gentleman robbing area pharmacies.  He claimed he had cancer and needed the drugs.  Today, police arrested him and found out his claims of cancer were bogus.

Molly Grantham has the story of one of the Charlotte Hornets star players, Michael Kidd Gilchrist, who was born a preemie baby at 4 pounds, 12 ounces.  Today, he’s 6’7” and a strapping 230 pounds.  MKG now has a soft spot for preemie children.

A car crashed into Lupie’s restaurant on Monroe Road overnight.  After knocking down the front porch, the driver kept going according to police.  Someone quipped, there’s enough grease in Lupie’s the car just slid right by.
