Vietnam Vet accosted

Hi everyone, this is Paul Cameron at my desk in the WBTV Newsroom.

Right about now, you’ll be hearing rain beating on your roof.  The long line of storms that brought twisters to Texas and Oklahoma is expected to drop more than an inch of rain across the Piedmont.  Eric Thomas is in the First Alert Weather Center keeping an eye on any flash flooding tonight.

A local Vietnam veteran says a stranger tried to shame him at the Charlotte airport over the medals he earned serving our country.  This Vet says after flying back home to Charlotte from a Veterans Day ceremony, someone jumped in his face, claiming he was a fake because his medals were crooked.  At 11:00 we’ll tell you how this story ended.

Honduras is a popular spot for people trying to get into the U.S. and tonight, four Syrians using stolen Greek passports were stopped at the Tegucigalpa airport.  Authorities are questioning the detainees to find out what they were up to.

In my weekly Crime Stoppers report, exclusive video of a frozen pizza bandit who makes a big mistake.  This young crook didn’t realize a plainly dressed woman was actually a loss prevention officer keeping an eye on him.  When he tried to leave the market without paying for the frozen pizzas in his backpack, she confronted him.  What he did then jumped his pretty theft into a serious strong armed robbery.

A local pastor sits down for an exclusive interview with us after he lost his leg in a hit and run crash.  Hear what he says about the driver who hit him.
