Resettling refugees

Hi everyone, this is Paul Cameron at my desk in the WBTV Newsroom.

Controversy tonight over letting Syrian refugees resettle in the United States.  Governors of North and South Carolina are opposed in light of the terrorist murders in Paris.  One of the killers arrived in France by mixing in with refugees.  Hear what a Syrian family who was allowed into to the Carolinas last week says about the issue.

A Charlotte Uber driver says he was attacked inside his car-- because he's Muslim.   Our reporter Coleen Harry is investigating.

In Minneapolis tonight, hundreds have shut down an interstate near downtown.  They are protesting the shooting of a black man by a white officer.  Police have begun making arrests.

The I-77 toll lane project is underway in north Mecklenburg tonight.  Critics wonder why the $680 million project, which was originally scheduled to start next spring, suddenly gives a three-day warning before breaking ground.

A lot of chatter of Cam Newton’s latest touchdown dance.  The Tennessee Titans thought he was rubbing it in.  But many Panthers fan we talked with say let Newton celebrate.

Weather-wise, we’ll be reaching for umbrellas again.  Eric Thomas has his First Alert Forecast.

Please join Molly Grantham, Eric Thomas, Delano Little and me for WBTV News right now!
