Freezy mornings

Hi everyone, this is Paul Cameron at my desk in the WBTV Newsroom.

Ready for the big chill?  Freezing mornings are on the way after a huge cold front that raked across the country has arrived in the Carolinas. Eric Thomas with the latest in a few minutes.

It’s been six months since 86-year old Doris Starnes was found bleeding in her nursing home bed in Mint Hill.  She later died at the hospital.  Police arrested Willie Shaw, Jr. and charged him with sexual assault.  Tonight, our reporter Coleen Harry will share the autopsy report on her death.

Someone is shooting livestock in the foothills pastures for no apparent reason.   A miniature horse was hit by shotgun pellets in Catawba County and its owner had to have it put down.  Now we know a cow was killed in Burke County and another horse shot down in Caldwell County.  While all those pastures are relatively close to each other, police don’t have enough evidence yet to say if the shootings are connected.

When will the words, “Proud” and “Brave”, cost someone $5,000?  When you play in the NFL and put that inscription on your shoes.  Josh Norman of the Panthers decided to pay tribute to his grandfather by wearing inscribed cleats during the game Sunday.  The NFL caught and fined him for being in violation of the uniform code.
