BLOG: Tropical Depression 12

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

We have seen a lot of rain in the past few weeks… a lot!

While this may not have done much for your mood, it got us out of a drought and has almost brought us back to an average rainfall total for 2015.

We are finally less than an inch behind on rainfall for the year. We got 5.57” in October. We’ve gotten 4.62” so far in November and we’re only a few days into the month!

With today’s rain, there’s a good chance we could wipe out that deficit totally. As a low treks out of the Gulf of Mexico, it will throw moisture our way. Some places could pick up 1-2”. There could be locally higher amounts.

What is the last thing we need? A tropical system. Tropical Depression 12 is now in the Atlantic. Here’s the good news. It doesn’t look like this storm will impact the US.

It should be making a turn to the NNW on Monday, then out to sea after that - as you can see on the spaghetti plot. The storm will likely go very close to the Bahamas on Monday and continue to the NE from there.

So the good news is that we won’t have tropical rains on top of the rain we’ve already gotten. The bad news is that it will still be a very wet Monday. Just keep your eyes on Wednesday. We should see the sun again – and highs close to 70!
