Driver not facing charges after hitting CMS bus with 17 children aboard

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Seventeen children on a school bus during an accident Tuesday were not seriously injured, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Police say the driver of a car who hit the back of the bus is not facing charges.

The accident, involving Berryhill School bus 343, happened just before 7:45 a.m. in the 1000 block of Walkers Ferry Road.

Medic says two people were taken to Carolinas Medical Center and one person was taken to Novant Presbyterian, all with minor injuries. A mother at the scene told our Ashton Pellom that her daughter felt dizzy after the accident and was taken to the hospital.

Officials say the driver's foot slipped off the brake, causing their silver car to tap the back of the bus.

Berryhill School teaches kindergarten through 8th grade.
