BLOG: A weekend forecast split in half

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

You take the good, you take the bad… and there you have the weekend forecast. Cool high pressure will build in behind a departing cold front. But just as quickly our rain chances return on Sunday.

Wednesday’s storm system brought significant rainfall to the Charlotte area.  In most cases we picked up around an inch and a half of rain across the region.

Thursday afternoon a secondary cold front will cross the Carolinas.  Along with very small chances for showers, we’ll see a mixture of clouds and sunshine.

Friday and Saturday feature an absolutely gorgeous fall forecast.  Mainly sunny skies will prevail with afternoon high temperatures climbing into the mid and upper sixties. Overnight lows will be cool… dipping down to the low and mid forties.

Early Sunday, high pressure will weaken and transit east as more of a southerly flow develops across our area. That means golf moisture will return… and with it rainfall chances for Sunday afternoon and evening.

Rain may linger into Monday. Of course the Carolina Panthers have a date for Monday Night Football against the Colts.  Right now the forecast is split between moving the rain out of the area by Monday evening… and slower solutions that try to hold onto the rain chances into Monday night.

We’ll be fine tuning the forecast through the weekend.
