Crime Stoppers: Callous criminal

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

A vicious, callous criminal is on the loose in Charlotte.

He shot a man point-blank in broad daylight to steal his bag full of deposit money.  Now police are looking at surveillance video for any clues.

The video shows a packed parking lot at the Bank of America branch on Beatties Ford Road.

It was 3:00 p.m.  A manager from a nearby McDonald's restaurant is seen walking to the bank with a bag of deposit money.

"He was going to make his normal drop,"  said CMPD Detective Tori Roddey.

Suddenly, a man wearing a bandana runs across the parking lot and pulls out a gun.

"Right before he gets to the first step, a guy runs up on him and shoots him in the stomach."

It happened in a blink.  He ran up, he shot him in the belly, and he grabbed the bag of cash.  A crime this well executed must have taken prior knowledge.

"More than likely, he had some inside information, or, he had been watching the manager and knew exactly when he made his drops."

We see the manager on the ground in pain.  It takes a few minutes, but several bank customers finally come to the victim's aid.

We also see the cowardly crook jump in the passenger side door of a silver Dodger Charger.  He and the driver peel away.

"This is a very dangerous criminal that we need to get off the streets."

You can help catch him by calling Crime Stoppers at (704) 334-1600.

Just last week, two people earned $500 each for tipping police about illegal guns.  CMPD then took five of those guns off the streets.  Crime Stoppers is always working to end the violence in our city.
