Sex offender caught on school premises, faces child sex charges

WATAUGA COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - A sex offender is charged with sexually assaulting a child and being on school premises in Watauga County.

John Anthony Stines of West Jefferson is accused of sexually assaulting a six-year-old child between October 2014 and June 2015 at a home in Watauga County. He was arrested Friday.

On Oct. 2, Watauga County officials learned that Stines was unwlawfully on Parkway School premises.

Stines is charged with four counts of sexual offense with a child. He was taken to the Watauga County Detention Center and given a $1,000,000 bond.

Stines is expected to appear in court on Nov. 25.
