CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - The 86th Mallard Creek Barbecue, always on the fourth Tuesday on October, kicks off at 10 a.m. Thursday.
Thousands of pounds of pork will be available but, it's about more than just the food. Thousands of people are expected to be at the barbecue at Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church Community Center, including politicians.
More than two thousand pounds of Brunswick stew will be accompanying the 14,600 pounds of pork. Corn and tomatoes were also being cooked as people gathered inside the kitchen Wednesday morning.
The church is located at 1600 Mallard Creek Church Road West in Charlotte. The church will also have take-out lines for pulled-pork sandwiches.
