An 89-year old man on a mobility scooter, hit and killed by a car, with the driver telling police the man was obscured in sun glare. Tonight we know the man killed was Fred Talbert, owner of Talbert’s Jewelry in Landis. Charges against the driver are doubtful at this point.
Robert Payne has his smile back. The Gastonia man who was shot through the cheek while sitting in his truck at a gas station, survived the bullet wound, but his teeth were shot out. Because of a story we aired, a Lincolnton dentist took notice and Caring Dentistry has donated Payne a new set of dentures.
Tonight we’ve learned about a police plan to put illegal liquor houses out of business. CMPD Detectives have linked four homicides and thirteen shootings to these homes and businesses that operate like a bar-- but without the license. Many of them are in residential neighborhoods.
