BLOG: Going 'Over the Edge' for Special Olympics

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

I love covering sports in Charlotte and I’ve grown up a fan of Special Olympics athletes, so I didn’t hesitate one moment when offered the chance to go Over the Edge for Special Olympics NC!

So just what does that mean? I will be rappelling down the side of the 18 story Hyatt House Charlotte Center City on Saturday morning November 14 to raise money for Special Olympics NC!

You may be thinking - Ashley, why are you doing this? Well aside from the fun it will be, this is a cause that is near and dear to my heart. My amazing mother is a special education teacher in Virginia, so growing up I befriended lots of Special Olympics athletes and volunteered at the competitions as well.

Special Olympics athletes are so inspiring! They overcome so many hurdles daily and I’m honored to tackle this rappelling challenge in their honor!

If you would like to help raise money for this great cause you can do so by becoming a sponsor! Just visit my fundraising page here and make a donation.

Any amount you are willing or able to donate is greatly appreciated and will go directly to the cause.
