Teen accused of stealing woman's car, leading police on chase

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A teenage boy has been arrested after police say he stole a woman's vehicle and then led police on a chase before crashing near a wooded area.

According to police, 16-year-old Timothy Lee Green Jr, was arrested after police say he and another person approached a woman along the 8300-block of Riverbirch Drive, in Charlotte, Monday night and demanded the keys to her vehicle.

Green got into the vehicle, according to police, and drove away.

Officers later found the vehicle, with Green and the other person inside, at South Boulevard and Remount Road.

The pair reportedly refused to stop for the officer and a pursuit ensued.

Officers deployed stop sticks on the vehicle near N. Sharon Amity and East W. T. Harris Boulevard.  A short distance later the vehicle crashed near a wooded area.

Green with immediately arrested but officers were unable to locate the second person.

Green was charged with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Larceny of Motor Vehicle, Resisting a Public Officer, felony Flee to Elude, and misdemeanor traffic offenses for Speeding and Careless/Reckless Driving.

He has previous arrests in Mecklenburg County in 2015 for communicating threats, robbery with a dangerous weapon and larceny of motor vehicle
