CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

A Charlotte high school student was arrested after police say he used a stun gun on a staff member at school.

Dytalion Reid, 17, was arrested Monday and charged with assault with a deadly weapon and communicating threats.

The incident happened at West Charlotte High School on the 2200 block of Senior Drive. Police have not released much information about what led to the alleged assault, but said Reid used the weapon on a 45-year-old male staff member, then "threatened him with physical harm."

According to the report, the victim "believed the suspect was capable of carrying out the threat."

Sources told WBTV that the staff member was a behavior modification technician.

The sources said that the staff member was assaulted with the stun gun after he told Reid to calm down while he was being disruptive and playing loud, vulgar music during a class change, but investigators have not confirmed that information.

Reid was taken to the Mecklenburg County Jail where he was given a $2,000 bond on the two charges.
