Once again Charlotte is booming!
And this time the city is writing its own version of West Side Story.
We applaud the efforts.
Center City partners recently hired a new Director for the Historic West End.
Alysia Osbourne will lead the revitalization effort.
And she’s got inertia on her side.
For those of you who haven’t ventured west of I-77 in a while…there’s a brave new world over here.
Freedom Drive and Morehead Street are now FreeMore West…
A walkable spot teaming with corporate offices, restaurants and bars.
Now the focus shifts to Five Points – the neighborhood hub at Johnson C. Smith University’s front door.
The coming years will see the extension of the Gold Line Street Car.
And another 20-million dollars in voter approved bonds will be pumped into the West Trade Street-Rozzelles Ferry Road area.
Johnson C. Smith’s 25-million dollar investment in the Mosaic Village on Trade Street is a great step in the private sector of this puzzle.
And we hope others will stake their claim in Charlotte’s Historic West End.
WBTV has been a proud resident of Charlotte’s west side since moving to the top of the hill on Morehead Street back in 1955.
We honor the proud heritage of this community and we look forward to welcoming more new neighbors.
Because we know the west side is a jewel in the Queen City’s crown.
