MATTHEWS, NC (WBTV) - More than 1300 people are without power in Matthews after a tree fell through several power lines.

"I didn't know what was going on and I saw all the power out obviously and I asked a fireman what was going on and he said there was a power outage. I was thinking (this) must be a pretty big power outage to knock this whole block off," said Matthews resident Reed Alexander.
