CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - If I had to start a brand new NFL Hall of Fame and the only way to get in was to be a wide receiver less than the height of six feet, my first pick to be inducted would be Steve Smith Sr.
Remember when it was not cool to be a short wide receiver?
Coming out of high school, if you were not bigger that six feet you were frankly not tall enough to play at a major college and certainly not worthy of playing in the NFL.
Well that changed sometime around the 90s and then continued to blossom in the early 2000s. And now it's pretty accepted around college and the NFL these days.
One of the biggest guys to make it more accepted was Smith.
If I were a defensive back, I'd rather take on Calvin Johnson than Mr. Scrappy, tough as nails, Steve Smith any day!
