Woman found dead inside apartment, police deem it 'suspicious'

ALBEMARLE, NC (WBTV) -

A woman's death in Albemarle is being deemed "suspicious" and police are searching for clues on what led to her death.

According to Albemarle Police, officers were called to an apartment along the 100-block of Englewood Avenue early Tuesday morning.

When they arrived, they found the body of 61-year-old Regina Jenks Canter lying on the floor.

Investigators say Canter's body was sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office for analysis.

"At the conclusion of this autopsy, the investigation continues to remain suspicious in nature," officials said Thursday evening.
