CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A 52-year-old man has died ten days after police say he was walking in the roadway in northeast Charlotte and was struck by a vehicle.
The crash happened around 6:36 a.m. last Monday.
According to police, 52-year-old Juventino Olivera Santos was attempting to cross the 200 block of east W.T. Harris Boulevard when he was struck by a 2008 Honda Odyssey van while he was in the center travel lane.
Santos was crossing midblock, not in a marked cross walk, police say.
Early Thursday morning, around 3:18 a.m., police say he died from those injuries.
Police say at the time of the crash it was early morning and just before sunrise, but say speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash.
The 45-year-old driver of the van was not injured in the crash and police say no charges will be filed in the crash at this time.
