CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - The first full weekend of Autumn is just around the corner, and if you have any plans (aside from being inside to watch Football) you'll want to pay close attention to the forecast.
Coming off of what's going to be a very wet Friday, it looks like at least half of the viewing area will still have some showers and periods of rain leftover into Saturday. While there should be at least some improvement over Friday, it will still be far from an ideal outdoor day.
Sunday looks a little more promising if you find yourself wanting to get outside. The bulk of the moisture starts to pull away by the back half of the weekend, which means we will see things dry out a little more. Although we will still allow for around 30% of the viewing area to pick up a left-over shower, it will be a drier day overall.
By the time this rainy stretch is all said and done with, some spots may be able to pick up 1-2" of much needed rain! This will be quite welcomed to help alleviate the moderate-severe drought currently in place.
With that being said- it is still possible to have flooding in a drought. The National Weather Service will keep an eye on the developing rain to determine if a Flash Flood Watch or Flood Watch may need to be issued for any counties across our viewing area.
