Crime Stoppers: Bold, brash and wanted

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - One robber has suddenly commanded the attention of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police (CMPD) - why?  Because he was bold, brash and threatening.
After robbing the MC Food Mart on Sam Wilson Road in west Charlotte, police erected their observation tower.

"Based off the last robbery they had here they felt we need to make a presence here at this location," said CMPD Officer Tori Roddey.

They believe it will prevent any future crime in the area. But this comes on the heels of three stick-ups at this convenience store.

Surveillance video from the latest robbery shows a man without a disguise. He's older - perhaps in the late 40s.

He took a pack of beer to the counter and wanted a pack of Newport cigarettes from the clerk. Then, he briefly showed a gun and tucked it under his shirt.

As he demanded money, he impatiently leaned across the counter, grabbing at the cash drawer. It was a frightening scene.

"And especially with some of the threats he was making towards the guy, telling him, 'do you want to die?' So he was pretty serious," Officer Roddey said.

After forcing the clerk to lie down on the floor, he left, but CMPD believes he struck again Tuesday morning, robbing the Kangaroo Express on North Tryon.

He should be easy to identify, so please call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600 and you can earn a reward for doing the right thing.
