A woman says she was beaten and nearly raped while boating on Lake Norman. Arrests have been made. WBTV's David Whisenant is learning more this afternoon.
Former North Charleston police officer Michael Slager is in court today. He's accused of murder in the shooting death of Walter Scott. Scott was seen on video running away from Slager and was shot in the back. Slager's attorney says he has new evidence and his client should be released from jail.
The shooting death of an unarmed man in Charlotte is back in the news. Jonathan Ferrell's family wants the U.S. Justice Department to get involved in the case. CMPD Officer Randall Kerrick was charged in Ferrell's death, but a jury hearing the case was unable to reach a verdict and prosecutors decided against a retrial.
The Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office is being flooded with new requests for gun permits. Changes are being made to speed up the process which has some waiting weeks to get their paperwork.
