NYC to be centerpiece of musical benefit in Charlotte on 9/11

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - On this, the fourteenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, Charlotte's music community is taking time to celebrate iconic musicians of New York, while raising money for Levine Children's Hospital.

On Friday, September 11, NODA's Neighborhood Theatre will take you on a musical journey. Local artists will perform some of the Big Apple's most recognizable bands and solo artists' songs, all for a great cause.

This is the sixth year musician Justin Fedor has organized these tributes. This year he says he wants the evening to recognize the impact New York has had on the nation.

Local bands and solo artists will perform the music of legends like Bob Dylan, The Ramones, Simon & Garfunkel, Blondie, Velvet Underground and more.

A suggested donation of ten dollars at the door will go directly to the hospital. But, as Fedor says, "You really pay what you can, however big or little. And remember it ALL goes to the Levine Children's Hospital."

Fedor writes on the event's Facebook page, "This 9/11 let's celebrate New York City for the beautiful beacon of culture that she continues to be today, and use that momentum to do some good in our own community." He created and is curator of this benefit series.

Some of the local bands performing include Ancient Cities, Business People, Ross Adams, and Charlie King, just to name a few.

Doors to the Neighborhood Theatre open this Friday, September 11, at 5:30 p.m.
