30 kids. 30 days. Molly's Kids in September

30 kids. 30 days. Molly's Kids in September

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - 30 kids. 30 days. Started today, Tuesday, September 1st.

September is Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month. The beautiful faces in this collage are the 30 local kids I wrote about in 2014. Some have battled, some are battling, some have their angel wings and are with us in spirit.

Cancer hitting anyone is unfair and difficult. There's something particularly wrong and unspeakably hard about it hitting a child.

And... again... all thirty kids I'll feature kids in our area.

Starting today I invite you to open your hearts, follow along, share the stories, and, hopefully, somehow get involved.

I will only say in advance, be prepared. I've been blown away. As some "headline" examples of what you'll read over the next 30 days:

  • Local high school has four kids with pediatric cancer
  • North Carolina child is focus of national research that could save thousands
  • 10-year-old girl close to death six years ago, successfully completes six triathlons

Amazing stories.

We begin with a little boy who's changing lives of other kids in the Charlotte-area, even though he might not know it.

Thank you all -- THANK YOU ALL -- in advance for caring.

**Editor's Note:  This was first published on Anchor WBTV's Molly Grantham's Facebook page – which is why it's written in a personal way. For years Molly has followed hundreds of kids with uphill medical battles. During Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month, she features one a day. Thirty total.
