(WBTV) - Video of a North Carolina-based Marine is going viral after he asked a world famous athlete to attend a Marine Corps ball with him later this year.
Marine Jarrod Haschert posted the video on Facebook Saturday, inviting MMA fighter Ronda Rousey on a date and it has already been viewed more than 2 million times.
"You are my celebrity crush, like, I love everything you do and I think you are a phenomenal person," he said in the video. "Which is why it would be my honor to take you to the Marine Corps Ball."
Haschert is originally from New Jersey, but has been based at Camp Lejeune for nearly three years.
The 22-year-old says he saw a female Marine ask Justin Timberlake to go to her ball, and he did.
"Ronda is by far the coolest chick I've ever seen," Haschert told WBTV Wednesday morning. "I've been watching her fights since I was in high school and every fight is more exciting than the last. As I said in the video she is absolutely my 'celebrity crush' and I just kept thinking, it's worth a try."
Haschert says he wasn't originally going to do the video, but his roommate and best friend convinced him that anything could happen.

"So that's what gave me the confidence to do it," he said.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the video had already been shared more than 100,000 times. Jarrod's name is a hashtag on Twitter with people tagging Ronda, asking her to accept him invitation.
Haschert says he's amazed to see the reaction his video has gotten.
"It's amazing to me how many people are reacting in a positive way and helping me so much by sharing the video and using other means of social networking to get my name out there," he said. "It seems like every time I check the video, it grows by the thousands."
He says he's proud that American would want to support people they don't even know.
"I figured the video would just get made of for about a week and then it would die off, but I'm in awe that I was wrong," Haschert said. "I've always been proud of being a Marine and an American and this is why America is so great. Because strangers are lining up to help someone they don't know. The American people are what make my job so much easier, just knowing how much they care about us."
It's not clear if Rousey has seen the video. There is no mention of it on any of her social media accounts. WBTV has reached out to her management team, but has not heard back.
Haschert's Marine Corps Ball is on December 11. Rousey is set to defend her title on January 2 at UFC 195 against Holly Holm.
He doesn't want to distract her from training, but says in the video that he hopes she considers his offer.
"You would truly be making my dreams come true," he says with a boyish grin.
