Man charged with murder in Gaston County hotel homicide

GASTON COUNTY, NC (WBTV) -

Police in Gastonia have arrested a man in connection to a homicide that occurred at a local hotel Friday.

Darren Andrew Adams, 27, is charged with first degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon, assault on a female and second degree kidnapping.

The incident happened at the Gaston Inn located at 1400 East Franklin Blvd. Police say Joshua Lee Gilliland, who was in his 20s, was found dead at the hotel, but did not give further details.

Investigators have not said how Gilliland was killed.

McMullan said Friday that police were interviewing people in connection to the case.

Police have not released any possible motives for the alleged crime.

Adams was taken to the Gaston County jail where he was placed under a $120,000 bond.

    Sports Illustrated reported Sunday that at least four former Carolina Panthers employees have received “significant” monetary settlements as a result of inappropriate workplace comments and conduct by owner Jerry Richardson.
